This year I've started putting more effort and more focus on doing weddings. It's not easy to start photographing weddings, I must say. The couple who want you to be their photographer for one of the most important days of their lives, need to make sure that they can trust you as a photographer which I can totally understand. Maybe not everyone thinks the same way but I'm sure if you're getting married, you don't want your 'first kiss' images missing or half your gallery blurry!
Earlier this year, I've put up an offer on my wedding packages. Before S&K's wedding, I had photographed Eleni and Karl's wedding but that was only for the ceremony. I wanted to start building up my portfolio somehow so that's why I did an offer. Stuart messaged me for an enquiry and a few days later he confirmed that he and Karly would like to book me as their wedding photographer. I was over the moon!! Their wedding ceremony was at St Paul's Church in Pentre Broughton, Wrexham and their reception was at Brymbo Conservative Club. On the day, the nerves were kicking in (I think I was more nervous for this wedding than on my own wedding day!) but when I got to the church and had a look round, I felt much better because I knew what I was going to do.
My favourite part of a wedding is the couple shots. I know a lot of people dread for this part but once they start getting photographed, they forget what's around them and they just simply focus on each other. I'm saying this because I've done it myself with Steffan my husband. When I get my pictures taken, I always want to see how I look in the photo and believe me, most of the time it's "no delete that one, take another one" and it drags a little... maybe a bit more than a little. Also Steffan is not a big fan of getting his pictures taken either but guess what, we both managed to get beautiful pictures on our day. Having some alcohol in your head helps a bit as well obviously but even if not, it's not as hard or awkward as you think it would be. I try my best not make you feel under pressure. My main aim is to make this day special for you in the future so when you look back at your images, they can bring back all them memorable moments of the day (and also of the ones you don't even remember they happened).
On the whole, the day went really well and I'm so pleased that I got to photograph S&K's wedding day.
